Throughout Speak, Melinda is reassured by a cartel of Internet Angelou, who was also raped as a child, but went on to become successful public figure and author. This fact that encounter defines a person is evident in Melinda's life by both traumatic encounter she has of rape plus the enjoyable experience she has participating Mr. Freeman's art classes. These two opposing influences wage-war and, ultimately, Melinda makes a decision to emerge from her layer. When the lady speaks to her middle university friend-turned-enemy Rachel about the big event at the summer season party, Melinda is accepted with open arms and forgiven of her accusations.
